Monterrey is one of the three most important cities in Mexico, thanks to its industrial development, economic, educational, services and infrastructure. It is called to be one of the most dynamic economic cities in Latin America for this century.
Monterrey makes up a large metropolitan area that has become the second largest in the country (second only to Mexico City). Monterrey is home to major industrial and financial groups on the country and abroad. This city has the highest GDP per capita of Latin American cities. Because of this, the city is provided by modern highways to the border of the United States, the Gulf of Mexico and the interior of the country. Nuevo Leon has three different airstrips capable of receiving plane magnitudes of mayor International Airports. It has direct flights to the country's main cities, the most important hubs of the United States (Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Miami and New York JFK) and other countries around the world.

Monterrey is surrounded by mountains and ridges which give it a unique character. The Sierra Madre Oriental abruptly changed direction to the east. Northwest of the city is located the Sierra de las Mitras (altitude of 1288 meters above sea level) in the northern part of the Sierra de la Silla. The "Cerro de la Silla" is the symbol par excellence of the city of Monterrey.
